With the rain more than likely to hit Shea Stadium pretty hard in the New York area, who would be more fitting to get the start on the mound for the MLB's best team overall, record wise? If his first couple of starts showed us anything, that would be rookie pitcher Michael Wacha.
Wacha, who is 0-1 with an ERA of 5.49 in his first two career starts, will get his third crack at picking up his first win of his Major League career as Jeremy Hefner and the struggling Mets will be hosting the two ball clubs at 6:10pm Central Time tonight.
Cardinals' manager Mike Matheny made a few changes to the lineup due to the weather forecast that we have -- as well as a few players in need of a day or two more off after either struggling at the moment, or well, just in fact needing a little breather this early on into the season. Here is a quick look at what Matheny put together for the three game series opener at the all infamous Shea Stadium;
1. Matt Carpenter -- Second Base
2. Yadier Molina -- Catcher
3. Matt Holliday -- Left Field
4. Allen Craig -- Third Base
5. Matt Adams -- First Base
6. David Freese -- Third Base
7. Jon Jay -- Center Field
8. Pete Kozma -- Shortstop
9. Michael Wacha -- Pitcher
Welcome to an unofficial blog of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. The name is Tyler Cobb (@tcobb1990) and I'm 22 years young. Becoming a sports writer or TV/Radio broadcaster is a big dream of mine and I am using this to help me make it. Follow the blog for everything Cardinals' that you need to know. I will be writing game previews, recaps, my own team and player analysts -- and much more. Thanks and Go Cardinals!
